LEYL MASTER BLACK
I got my start DJing in the San Francisco rave scene in the late 90s, lugging turntables and crates to parties all over the Bay area. Today I travel more lightly, and my style’s gotten lighter too. I play music that makes people feel good – syncopated rhythms, funky grooves, soulful vocals, pulsing beats. Growing up in DC, my friends and I were all mad for DC go-go and often snuck down to the 9:30 Club to hear bands like Trouble Funk and E.U. If you listen closely, you might hear a bit of that go-go sound in my sets. I work hard to bring soul to the dance floor, whether I’m spinning house, nu disco, or techno.
